Coat: Two types: rough or smooth and abundant. The undercoat is soft,
furry and dense
Characteristics and temperaments: The Collie is protective, sensitive,
sweet and loyal. He can be suspicious to strangers but friendly with children.
Socialization is required to introduce him to other household pets
Avg Size of male: Height: 24 – 26 inches, Weight: 60 – 75 pounds
Avg Size of Female: Height: 22 – 24 inches, Weight: 60 – 65 pounds
Care: The coat should be brushed regularly. Bathe only when necessary.
Pay special attention especially during shedding, which happens twice a year
Training and activity: The dog is sensitive to the voice of his trainer.
Training should be pleasant, consistent but not firm, otherwise he won't
cooperate. As an intelligent dog, he can be trained for many purposes including
rescue, guide and guard dog. Collie needs plenty of exercise to keep him healthy
