Description: In
the United States and Canada he is known as the English Toy Spaniel and the name
"King Charles" is given to the black and tan variety only. The English
Toy Spaniel is the ultimate lap dog, as he loves to sit by his owner's side. He
is sweet, shy, easygoing and is affectionate to his owners and those he is
familiar with. Makes a wonderful companion for the elderly.

Colors: Black
and tan - raven black with bright tan markings above the eyes, on cheeks, inside
ears, o chest and legs and underside of tail, white marks undesirable. Ruby -
solid rich red, white markings undesirable. Blenheim - rich chestnut markings,
well broken up on pearly white ground; markings evenly divided on head, leaving
room for lozenge spot between ears. Tricolor - black and white, well spaced and
broken up with tan markings over eyes, cheeks, inside ears, inside legs, on
underside of tail.
Coat: Long,
silky, straight coat. Slight waviness permissible.

Obedient, affectionate
With Children: Yes, provided there is no
rough housing.
With Pets: Yes, very social and enjoys other
animals.

Care and Exercise:
Regular brushing with a firm bristle brush. Bathe or dry shampoo
only when necessary. Check ears, eyes and nails. Keep a watch for ear

of him.
